Dracaena Limelight – Indoor Office Plants
Maybe it’s the fresh, lime green leaves that give this plant its name, because its eye-catching looks may mean this plant steals the limelight from other plants.
This tropical houseplant can be placed on a table with other dracaena plants and its bright leaves are guaranteed to draw attention. It’s hardy and low maintenance and will just require the occasional pruning to remove old leaves and to keep it looking beautiful. The beautiful foliage also rids the indoor air of toxic compounds.
With the right conditions, the Dracaena LimeLight can reach 5 feet in height and 4 feet in width. If you think its too tall for your place you can simply lop the top off with pruning shears.
How to care for your Dracaena Limelight
- This glossy leafed plant loves a low-light which actually makes it ideal for homes and offices. If the leaves become too pale, it is getting too much light.
- Once you’ve received your Limelight and you want to report it, use a standard potting mix available at your nursery.
- The right conditions for the plant are warm, humid surroundings. It can also grow outdoors in a shady area. The plant will thank you if you maintain indoor temperatures at about 60 to 70°F and see that the temperatures don’t drop to below 55°.
- As an indoor plant, make sure you don’t overwater it as this can just result in root rot. The soil needs to dry before you water again. It is a plant that also enjoys regular misting.
- The Dracaena Limelight isn’t a quick-growing plant so it doesn’t need as much fertilizer as other indoor plants. You can feed it with a portion of water-soluble plant food once a month or so, but not in Winter.
- Wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to keep them free from dust.
